![]() If you haven't already, please take some time to look at our product gallery, plus the commissions under the forge; it is a great way to get an idea of our style. Although this site represents a cross-section of what we've done in the past, it is not the extent of our work. If you are interested in Loken Forge, contact us and we can begin discussing the details of your desires and give you an idea of our current work schedule. We've tried to break down the design process below to give you an idea of what to expect when commissioning a piece or installation. Feel free to contact us with inquiries, or come down to our forge to visit us in person. We'll be more than happy to chat. |
| Consultation The nature of the consultation will depend on your location. We prefer to visit your location to see where the work will be placed, and get some measurements, if necessary. This can also be done from a distance via phone, fax and e-mail. Most importantly, we need to build a rapport to design a piece of metalwork that is right for you, after all, we will be making something that will live for generations. |
| Design Our ideas now begin to take shape on paper and in iron. As you should well know, the creative process does not always lend itself to hard schedules; we will often spend time in the forge working out some of the design ideas in iron, modifying and developing the piece as it is assembled. We strive for quality in our finished work, and we will keep in touch to let you know how we are progressing. |
| Initial Fee We request a non-refundable design fee (usually 10 percent of the estimated cost) before moving into the design stage. When the project is completed this is deducted from the total cost. |
| Budgets The evolution of the piece can affect the costs not always upward. Simpler is sometimes better. If you have clearly defined parameters, please let us know. We should be able to give you an idea of costs early, and will finalize when the design is complete. |
| Review and Approval At this point, we will look over the design and tweak it here and there, if necessary. Upon approval, we may require another down-payment and we will proceed to finish the commission as per the schedule discussed earlier. |
