Take a Blacksmithing Class
|
If hitting a piece of white hot steel with a hammer sounds like fun, this class is for you! Step back in time and witness the once familiar scene of the village blacksmith churning away before a blazing hot coal fire, showering themselves with pin-point sparks of light with each ping against the anvil. Once a familiar scene the automation of the industrial revolution changed all that. Now you can have the opportunity to see what being a blacksmith was like, without investing in a shop or equipment. Learn the tools of the trade and their uses. Learn proper hammer control and techniques. Classes will be held periodically throughout the year, and consist of a Friday afternoon and evening, all day Saturday through early afternoon Sunday. Class size will be limited to four students to provide ample individual attention. At the end of the class each student goes home with a working knowledge of almost all the processes and techniques that a blacksmith needs, and several functional pieces of art that they have made entirely themselves. |
